The History and Development of the Signature Theatre
Signature Theatre is a Tony Award-winning regional theatre located in Arlington, Virginia. It was founded in 1989 by James Albrecht and Eric Schaeffer, who is the Artistic Director. The theatre’s mission is to present contemporary plays and musicals, both new works and reimagined classics, that push the boundaries of the art form. Some notable productions that premiered at Signature Theatre include “The Scottsboro Boys,” “Shakespeare’s R&J,” “Hairspray,” and “Freaky Friday.”
In addition to its acclaimed productions, Signature Theatre also offers a range of educational programs for aspiring artists of all ages.
